The recording of our recent phone seminar with Craig Cheslog, Principal Advisor to the California State Superintendent of Public Instruction is now posted.
Following the call, CP was invited by California Arts Council Executive Director Craig Watson to participate in the March convening of Create the State, the coalition of arts and education reformers discussed in the call. The CAC is working closely with Department of Education to keep arts education a part of the school reform movement. We'll keep our members updated on this opportunity.

California Presenters seeks proposals for exceptional new performing arts projects for touring in the 2013-2014 season. California Presenters’ Artist Spotlight was launched in 2006 as the New Works Tour Support Program. The Artist Spotlight has evolved as a unique opportunity for artists to engage directly with California Presenter members in a focused, intimate environment that allows for robust conversation and exchange. The Artis Spotlight Session is a pitch process that has independently generated several successful tours as well as developed substantive relationships between artists and presenters.

California Presenters has been awarded a $15,000 Access to Artistic Excellence grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in support of the 2012 Artist Information Exchange conference. Nationally, in the Access to Artistic Excellence category, 789 grants out of 1,415 eligible applications were recommended for funding for a total of $24.9 million. More than $88 million was awarded through 1,145 grants to not-for-profit national, regional, state, and local organizations nationwide.
California Presenters was founded
in 1985 as a statewide coalition
of organizations committed to advancing professional touring and presenting of the performing arts.
As such, California Presenters nurtures organizational leadership, professional development,
and knowledge exchange in the performing arts.
The California Arts Council's website is featuring an article on Lula Washington Dance Theatre, and includes CP's own Adam Philipson. "Lula’s work in the community of Santa Clarita was the brainchild of Adam Philipson, Managing Director of the Santa Clarita Valley Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons. Philipson, booked Lula’s critically acclaimed dance company for its 30th anniversary season adding a residency component with local schools."
