Nominating Committee

Laura Connelly and Dale Franzen, Co-Chairs

The primary responsibility of the Nominating Committee is to identify and recommend individuals from the organization’s membership to serve as Directors. The Committee ensures that the Board of Directors reflects a balanced composition of representatives from varied venue sizes, regions of California, and areas of professional expertise. The Committee communicates with candidates regarding expectations of Board service and provides new Directors with proper orientation. The Committee recommends Directors for officer positions, including President, President-Elect, Vice President, and Treasurer and Secretary. Members of the Nominating Committee must be a current Director of California Presenters.

Professional Development Committee

Anita Wiglesworth, Chair

The Professional Development Committee assesses the professional development needs of the organization’s membership based on current issues in the presenting field, recommends new initiatives to the Board of Directors, and monitors the offerings of the organization through ongoing dialogue with the membership. The Committee implements professional development programs throughout the year and at the annual Artist Information Exchange. The Professional Development Committee may be composed of current Directors or members of California Presenters and shall include one member of the Next-Gen committee.

Next-Gen Committee

The purpose of the Next-Gen Committee is to actively engage professionals who are either new to or are in their early career stages in the presenting field. The Committee develops programs to provide leadership training, mentorships and networking opportunities for those who have an interest in further developing as presenting professionals and advancing their career in the field. Committee members shall serve on the Professional Development, Membership or Conference committees to provide the Next-Gen perspective in determining initiatives to best serve this segment of the organization’s membership. The Next-Gen Committee may be composed of current Directors or members of California Presenters.

Membership Committee

Lenore Naxon, Chair

The role of the Membership Committee is to identify prospective members and actively encourage membership with the organization. Through on-going dialogue and feedback from prospective and current members, the Committee recommends to the Board of Directors services, communications and initiatives which would help retain current membership and attract new members. The Committee is responsible for reviewing applications and selecting individuals to receive scholarships to attend AIE. Working collaboratively with the Board of Directors and staff, the Committee develops the application and promotes the scholarship opportunity to current and prospective members of the organization. The Membership Committee may be composed of current Directors or members of California Presenters and shall include one member of the Next-Gen committee.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee shall consist of the President, Vice President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Treasurer and Secretary. The Executive Committee shall have and may exercise, while the Board of Directors is not in session, the powers of the Board of Directors in the management of the affairs of the corporation, except action in respect to the election of officers or the filling of vacancies in the Board of Directors. The Executive Committee leads fundraising efforts of California Presenters and works collaboratively with the Board of Directors in identifying and soliciting funding sources.

Artist Information Exchange Committees

Conference Committee

Sharon Yazowski, Chair

The Artist Information Exchange (AIE) Committee is responsible for producing the annual AIE conference, including securing a location, managing the conference budget, and working closely with the organization’s staff in coordinating logistics. The Committee works collaboratively with the entire Board of Directors to develop the conference plan and ensure that AIE addresses current issues in the presenting field and provides new and relevant information to the organization’s membership. The AIE Committee may be composed of current Directors or members of California Presenters and shall include one member of the Next-Gen committee.

Pitch Session Committee

Martin Wollesen, Chair

The Pitch Session Committee reviews submissions and selects artists to present at the New Works Tour Support Program Pitch Session at AIE. The Committee works collaboratively with the Board of Directors and staff to develop the application and promote the pitch session opportunity to artists, agents and managers. Members of the Pitch Session Committee must be a minimum of two current Directors and members of California Presenters.
